In My Life:
one magical take
The Beatles have had a profound influence on Amy and I, so I thought it fitting that we do a Beatles song for this record. I asked Amy if she had a preference and she mentioned In My Life was a special song from her senior year in school. I knew the song well. The challenge was how to do it justice, being that everyone knows the original.
It turned out that simplicity was the key. I arranged and performed a solo piano track in a light jazz motif. Amy nailed the song in one take and that’s exactly what you hear as the final track on the album takes you to “places you remember…”
